Book Review: 2001: A Space Odyssey

★★★★☆ 4 / 5

The truly great thing about this book is the author’s contagious enthusiasm toward science and astronomy. His descriptions of the various elements of our solar system, despite being mostly told from the point of view of a fictitious character, are both beautiful and informative at the same time.

That said, I feel that the author is a little too eager to explain away every single story points depicted in the movie. He leaves very little to the imagination, even down to the very nature of the alien species that created the monoliths. Still, it’s a great read!
